Education is a basic human right for all children, and it is especially important that refugee children receive schooling because it creates a sense of security and hope, which is often lacking in refugee settings. Basic schooling has emerged as humanitarian rights, just like water, sanitation, food, security, and shelter.
Unfortunately, most of the donors for education in the camp have stepped out due to which learning opportunities for over 1,500 children in the camp are at stake. The Global Bhutanese Organization (GBO) in conjunction with Camp Management Committee (CMC) Beldangi and Sanischare, Nepal, and ECDC Management committee is taking an initiative aiming to build the capacity of the school to support Nursery and Pre-Primary students and their teachers and facilitators. The project partners are transforming the Pancha-Oti School site into the Early Childhood Development Education Center for play-based learning in Beldangi Camp and using the existing school site in Sanischare (Pathri) Camp.
We the funding partner GBO and implementing partner ECDC Management Committee and CMC, BRC Beldangi have reached the highest level of a memorandum of understanding to facilitate this ECDC education project for five years. At the same time same agreement have been made with Sanischare CMC. We both project partners, GBO and ECDC/CMC, Beldangi would like to jointly appeal to all the resettled Bhutanese Communities across the globe to participate in this educational fundraising drive with your generous contribution and solidarity for noble causes.
